Female Intimate Surgery – Labiaplasty

Intimate surgery is recommended for patients who experience discomfort or distress related to the size of their labia minora.

Labial hypertrophy often causes irritation during certain physical activities, such as sports, or during sexual intercourse. In some cases, patients may simply feel self-conscious or unhappy with the appearance of their vulva.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and lasts about 1 hour. In a nymphoplasty, or labia minora reduction, the size is decreased by removing redundant tissue. Similarly, if it is necessary to reduce the clitoral hood or prepuce, part of it is also removed. In cases where correction of the labia majora is needed, lipofilling or fat grafting is usually performed to increase their volume.

After surgery, the labia minora will be covered with a dressing and ointment, and it is recommended to apply local cold therapy during the first hours and days to reduce swelling.

It is also important to keep the wounds clean and avoid contact with urine.

Sexual activity should be avoided for the first 2–3 weeks, as well as intense physical activity.
